Banner II

Select an image you want to use. I will be using one which I obtained from Serenity/Deliri0us's Icon Challenge.

Select a colour that is close to the one of your image. Fill a background with that colour and put your image on top.

Blend your image through.

Next, open a stock picture that has colors of high contrast. I used this one of a flower.

Filter >> Blur >> Motion Blur this stock picture at any angle you like between 100 and 200 px.

Drag this blurred stock picture over to your banner on top of your picture and set it at 100% Softlight.

Duplicate this layer and Filter >> Distort >> Twirl. I twirled my stock at approximately 500. I then changed the opacity of this twilred picture to 20%

Here are my two layers:

Next, I dragged this texture from Paint Pops to my banner and placed it below the layer of my image of the lady. I duplicated this texture. I set the top layer to Lighten.

Now, inspecting the picture of the lady in my banner, I find that the orange light on her hair is extremely contrasting to my picture. Hence, I added an adjustment "selective colour" layer on top of her picture, below the flower stock filters.

This is what my banner looks like right now.

Next, Alt-Ctrl-Shift-E and move this layer on top of all layers. Set this layer to 100% Softlight.

Duplicate this layer and set it to 50% Screen.

Do you see the difference?

I feel that I am done with my banner so I simply going to add text now.
